Welcome to Pottsboro
When my grandmother was born in Pottsboro 116 years ago, it was a sleepy, scattered farm and ranch community in the hills and trees around the Red River. In many ways it has not changed, except for the BIG exception, Lake Texoma. The 12th largest Corp of Engineer lake is a draw to all of those who like fishing, boating, and all the pleasures "The Big Lake" provides. The large amount of open space is dotted with weekend retreats, homes, and mansions. Whether they are a retiree, farmer, weekend lake enthusiast, or Dallas millionaire, they can't wait to get to their comfort zone called Pottsboro.
One of my favorite places is Hagerman National Wildlife Refuge. The Texas state bow and arrow record deer was shot in Hagerman. Whether I am kayaking, fishing, or bird watching, I am in my comfort zone. It is always a warm feeling that I may be kayaking above the very spot that my grandmother was born.
